Happy Pride Month from the Cohen, Tucker & Ades Team!

Pride is a celebration of self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility for the LGBTQI+ community.

Pride!

June is Pride Month. Pride is a celebration of self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility for the LGBTQI+ community. Pride also serves as a reminder of the struggle to overcome prejudice and gain acceptance. And while a lot of progress has been made in the U.S., the same cannot be said for the rest of the world.

Over 70 countries still criminalize being LGBTQI+. The death penalty is imposed, or is at least a possibility, for private, consensual same-sex sexual activity in 11 countries.
Even in countries where same-sex relations are not criminalized, LGBTQI+ individuals are often not protected by the government. In these places, LGBTQI+ people are at risk of violence and  threats to their safety and lives. LGBTQI+ individuals also face pervasive societal discrimination, which negatively affects their prospects for employment, housing, family relations, and access to education and health care.

We at Cohen, Tucker & Ades, P.C. are proud to be allies of the LGBTQI+ community. We are proud of our work helping those fleeing persecution, because of their sexual orientation and gender identity as well as helping same-sex couples navigate the U.S. immigration system.

If you are in U.S. and afraid to return to your home country, because you are afraid you will not be accepted for who you are, or just want to work with an experienced legal team who will accept you for who your are, please contact us.
